Who I am.

I graduated from Oxford in 1988 and since then have published fourteen books. I have gone down the traditional publishing route and also self-published. Since 2018 I have worked as a writing coach, freelance editor and general book doctor.

In 2015, I started developing something I call The Place of Peace. It began with my work with horses and it was originally named ironically - because middle-aged British women weren’t supposed to be standing around in Scottish fields with thoroughbred mares finding transformative life lessons. That is, however, what happened, and I began to codify and formulate these lessons. They worked so brilliantly for horses that I experimented with applying them to human life, and so The Place of Peace was born. There is now a book called it, I run groups called it, and I publish a Substack essay called it every day of the week.

I keep my business small, because I like working with individual clients on a profound and personal level. I live in the north of Scotland with two lurchers and three thoroughbred mares.
